Yesterday (and this morning) my mind was quite all over the place. I had lots of doubts, stresses and anxiety. I didn’t sleep well and when I did I had an anxious dream, which wasn’t fun.

Here is why I have felt stressed and anxious recently. Yesterday I was so stressed and anxious, boiling with frustration and panic. Then I helped a homeless guy, and a friend helped me. I'm feeling good again.

As the day went on (or should I say flew by!!) I peaked up a bit. It sounds ridiculous but a lot of my stress and anxiety the past few days has been down to missed deliveries.

Beginning of the week, I missed a Royal Mail delivery and had to wait until Friday morning to pick it up, due to post office times/my working times.

The depot no longer exists?

Middle of the week, I missed a delivery of items for my business via DHL and it turns out they only re-deliver Monday to Friday – both me and Matt work Monday to Friday. I called the automated number on the card to arrange to collect from Ipswich on Friday – Matt would have gone after work – only to find out on Friday morning that that depot no longer exists.

So I called them back and talked to someone, to be told that depot no longer exists. She asked where I booked it and I told her it was through the automated number on the card, and that they gave me the full address so it was obviously wrong! Turns out it’d been taken to the nearest depot, which is Colchester, about 25–30 miles away. It closes at 7 pm on weekdays, so there would be no chance of Matt getting there after work. But they are open Saturday mornings, so we agreed to go first thing on Saturday morning together.

Another missed delivery

Meanwhile, on Friday we also missed a delivery of boxes (for the business) via Yodel. (WHY DO PEOPLE STILL USE THIS HATEFUL COMPANY?!)

Anyway, the card said if no contact was made they would attempt delivery the next day (Monday to Sat).. DO you see where this might be going?..

So Saturday comes and Matt has to go to Colchester to pick the DHL delivery up by himself while I wait in for the Yodel re-delivery. Quelle surprise, waited in all day, and NO delivery attempt.

Fast forward to today, I call Yodel and just speak to their automated line (joy of joys) and arrange for us to go pick it up from Ipswich.

I went online to Yodel on their Webchat to complain, and was told to go to their website and fill in a complaints form.

I did this but I doubt I’ll hear anything back.

Frustration and panic boiled up

So this was where my frustrations and panics were coming from. They had been boiling up all week. Last night my brain just felt so scatty, I couldn’t process my thoughts enough to blog, or to explain myself properly in a mental health Facebook group I am on.

I just couldn’t think in comprehensible sentences. I made a post on the Facebook group, but I think it was more of a rant/vent. What I said was quite ominous, mainly because I just didn’t even know where to start with it all. For those who read the post and commented, I hope this makes it a bit clearer.

So as today went on I did feel a bit more at ease, I guess that’s because each thing was getting sorted one by one and the end was nigh, as it were.

Due to my new job I get a slightly later train home (which is fine), and today as I walked up to the train station I saw Si and Wolfy.

I saw Si and Wolfy

As you may know by now, I have bought Si and Wolfy a hot chocolate and a sausage roll each before. But today I decided to be brave, I decided to ask if he would like a drink first, give him the option for what he wanted.

So when I asked if he would like a drink he said he wouldn’t say no to a hot chocolate ? I went in to the station and got him a hot chocolate from WHSmiths, along with a meal deal – a sandwich, packet of crisps and a bottle of coke. At Greggs, normally I would get them a sausage roll each for £1, but I saw they were offering four for £3 so I bought 4.

I went back out and handed him the hot chocolate and said what else I had got him, and he thanked me a lot. I gave Wolfy a little scratch on the head and asked if he had somewhere to go tonight. He said if he can get £3 he’ll be able to go to a B&B. It’s £25 a night and he had £22. Unfortunately I didn’t have any change, so I couldn’t give him any money.

We chatted

He said he was aware of the bus shelter project but they already have a resident with a dog, as do a couple of other places. He said he had been homeless for 2 years and had Wolfy the whole time, and he wouldn’t be without him.

Some else came over, who I think was someone he knew. I think he was going to give him some baccy, so I said I’d leave them to it and that I hoped he got the rest of the money to stay in the B&B.

It was a nice thing to do. I felt a lot better for doing what I did, and he always thanks me, and Wolfy is such an adorable lil dog!

Cake from a friend

My friend made an amazing Milky Bar cheesecake at the weekend and gave some to me and Matt, and he’s just messaged me to say he saved us some more for tonight. So I’m going to get that in a minute. His generosity and thoughtful ways always make me grateful.

From yesterday when I could barely string a sentence together, to today, my possibly longest blog yet!

Thanks for hanging on in there with me, guys.
