I’m not posting about ‘New Year – New Me’ or sharing new resolutions this year.
It’s New Year’s Eve as I write this, and everyone is getting into the party spirit and probably doubling them up within the next hour!
But I’m not celebrating. Every year, since I first got Facebook, I’ve done a post on how I’m always glad the previous year is over and a new one beginning.
Then it hit me. In 2016 I had a crummy year and hoped 2017 would be better, and it was, until some unfortunate events later in the year. In 2017 I posted some ‘blah blah’ about 2018 being better, and now, in 2018, I’m not posting anything.
Moving forward
It’s not because of the crippling depression I’ve struggled with for the last 2 months, but because it’s only us humans that define time. One could argue, in 2017 I corrected some mistakes I made in 2016 but made new ones. In 2018, I corrected the mistakes of 2016 and 2017 and laid a foundation to improve in 2019. But really, it’s just a continuum. It’s about moving forward in time and learning from mistakes. I’ll make new ones, that is guaranteed, but it’s about learning and looking after myself.
On that note I shall say Happy (belated) New Year.
