On Mental Health 💚❤💚❤
When I’m high and when I’m low, sometimes my brain doesn’t know where to go.
Searching for something, even a trace, I know it’s there but cannot place.
A sense of peace or maybe a piece, of part of me that feels erased.
Not quite lost but not yet found – the thoughts and feelings whirl around.
From calm to chaos, I’m not unique, so many feel but can’t always speak.
Of joyous madness and deep dark lows, from the tops of our heads to the tips of our toes.
The word is out there for mental health, to stop the stigma and promote care of self.
The intentions are right and the message is good.
It is positive, caring, encouraging, yet, so many still struggle to reach out and connect.
We say the words and talk the talk but actions are needed to walk the walk.
There is no shame in feeling pain, confusion, fear and loss.
But sometimes the road to recovery can be a difficult one to cross.
So hard it can be to be open and free in laying our feelings bare, to those who promise and want to support us and always to be there.
For also it can be hard to hear the distress of someone we love and treasure.
To see their pain and feel it too can be difficult beyond measure.
And yet it is in those moments of honesty, of true and loving connection that space is created to allow us to head in the right direction.

The strength of our humanity can help us rise above; the challenges we face in life – humanity and love.
The beauty of being understood and even just accepted is a wonderful and precious gift and helps us feel connected.
Create that space that allows a story, to be told and shared, in all its glory.
In all of its sadness and darkness as well, the parts that can be hardest to tell.
Be there to listen not judge or advise, just be kind, caring and try to empathise.
As much as we can, in any case, this journey I think of, as a marathon, not a race.
We may never know what others endure but can reach out a hand, open a door.
It might just be the very thing, to spark a light and ease the pain, perhaps disrupt a spiral and maybe inspire the fight.
We all need kindness and some more than others.
So just start with that, be kind as we go, through life, on our journeys, through the highs and the lows.
If you can, then be the light to shine through the darkness of another’s night.
And if that person in the dark is you then always remember, you can come through.
Out of the darkness and into the light with support and love you can find that fight.
You are unique, one of a kind, you deserve to have peace in your heart and mind.
Know your worth and speak your truth.
You can and you will begin to see that there’s no one else you’d rather be.
