I know it sounds clichéd, but knowledge truly is power, especially in terms of the power of self-realization. After struggling with anxiety and depression for the majority of my life, I have finally learned just how powerful self-realization can be.

How To Change Your Life – The Power Of Self Realization. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, or life in general, self-realization can have a profound positive impact. Here's how.

From a simple definition of the word, self-realization is the knowledge of one’s true self. Or, in other words, the realization or fulfilment of one’s own potential or abilities. There is also a much deeper meaning of self-realization. It’s a much more powerful way to look at yourself and the world around you. It’s a deep understanding and awareness of self.

I’d like for you to think about these definitions for a moment.

What comes to mind when reading those words, and why are they so important?

You’re in luck, because I’m going to tell you why.

Discover The True Power

When you are able to look at yourself, from the outside in, and be completely honest with yourself, you will start to discover the true power of self-realization. Yet, you have to be honest. Ask yourself some of these questions:

  • Do I truly know myself?
  • Am I really doing my best, trying my hardest?
  • What do I really think of myself and who I am?
  • Why do I feel the way I do?
  • What are my strengths?
  • Am I afraid to be happy?
  • What are my fears, and why do I fear these things?
  • Do I like myself? Why/why not?
  • Who am I?

Obviously, you can get lost going down this rabbit hole, but these are some of the main and most important questions to ask yourself. What you’re trying to accomplish in answering these questions is to see reality for what it is, instead of what you think it is.

It’s A Journey

Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, motivation or life in general… self-realization applies to every aspect of your life and how you live it. And it can have a profound positive impact!

This is not something that happens overnight. It takes time to really get to know yourself, and while it sounds easy enough, being honest with yourself can sometimes be quite difficult. There’s a reason they call it a ‘journey’.

Starting with learning how to be more self-aware and practicing mindfulness and mindful thinking skills is a great way to start. As you get better with these, it will help you with getting your thoughts together.

It also helps to have guidance. Finding a counselor or therapist, preferably one that you’re comfortable and feel compatible with, can help with all of these skills. They can provide you with tips and tools and usually aren’t afraid to ask you those difficult questions that you would normally try to avoid.

Self-realization and self-awareness really go hand in hand. There are several ways to learn and master these skills. If you truly want to understand and master what the power of self-realization can do for you, here are some ways to get started.

Looking Within

Aside from asking and answering the above questions and being honest with yourself, there are some other ways to help you on your path to self-realization.

There are different activities you can do to practice and help develop your self-awareness skills. For some, this comes more naturally, but for others, it’s something you have to learn in order to better understand. Don’t let this discourage you; everyone has the ability to become more self-aware!

Meditation is another great way to quiet the mind, allowing you to better get to know and understand yourself. Guided meditation is one way to get started. It’s also a great way to relax and has a very calming effect.

Journaling is also important. Writing down your thoughts onto paper can not only help you clear your mind, but it’s also a great self-reflection tool. Journaling also helps in keeping track of your progress, which can be very motivating and helpful in this process.

This is your own personal journey. No one else can make this journey for you. You are the only one who has the power and ability to understand the power of self-realization and how to achieve it. It is an individual and personal experience, something you do for yourself.

Are You Willing To Change?

It can be a painful yet healing process, and I believe that you have to feel all of these things in order to truly understand what it means. You have to be ready and willing to fully accept and understand everything that goes along with self-realization.

Once you are able to understand how this affects you and your thinking, it has the ability to open up so many doors for you. The power of self-realization can and will change your life. It will change the way you look at everything around you.

If you truly want to change your thinking, perspective and outlook on life, self-realization and self-awareness will do all of these.

I’m still practicing and still learning how to master these skills myself. I can tell you that, from what I’ve already learned, it is already having a huge impact on my life as well as my ways of thinking and seeing myself.

Nothing To Lose, Everything To Gain

I want to learn more and continue to get better, and just getting from where I was to where I am now has made such a difference in my life. I’m starting to realize how powerful the mind/body connection is. There is nothing to lose and everything to gain.

If anyone else has any tips they can share, or your own personal self-realization or self-awareness stories, please share! I’d love to hear from you, and I’d love to hear how it has helped you in your life!

Please share here in the comments below to ask questions and share information. I hope this will help to inspire you to get to know yourself better and learn to accept and love yourself for the amazing person that you are!
