For anyone dealing with anxiety or depression or any other mental health issue, I am here to say –
Thank YOU.
Thank you for getting up and facing the day – even when you don’t feel like facing yourself.
For leaving your house when you don’t even want to leave your bed.
For making it through the toughest night of your life alone. Perhaps over and over. Thank you.
And ABOVE ALL:
Thank you for doing whatever it takes to stay alive.
When I think of all of you, there are several words that pop into my head.
Words like BRAVE, COURAGEOUS, STRONG and COMPASSIONATE. INTELLIGENT and DETERMINED.
You see – YOU MATTER. YOU ARE ENOUGH.
Yes, you – just the way you are.
Many sides to suicide
There are so many sides to suicide, including – THE OTHER SIDE. The Survivor Side – My Side.
Twelve years ago I made a poor decision.
I overdosed on pills and booze and ended up in a coma.
I was in a coma for almost three days.
Friends sometimes ask if I regret what I did.
My answer is always – of course I do.

I got to see firsthand, how my actions devastated my friends and family.
But I forgive myself.
Reach out… shout out
Now, in my darkest hour, I reach out, speak out. Hell, even SHOUT out to anyone who is available. And if nobody is around, I call a crisis line because someone truly is always listening.
Darkness does not come from light, light comes from darkness.
The last 12 years have been filled with far more light than dark.
I have a seven-year-old daughter. She is fantastic.
I met the girl of my dreams. Seriously – she’s a keeper.
I have created several pieces of art.
And today I am sharing all of this with you because you are still here too, and you matter.
So, thank you.
