Being Diagnosed with Paranoid Schizophrenia

By Sarah-Jayne

My name is Sarah and I’m 26. I’ve experienced hearing voices for as long as I can remember. I was diagnosed with Paranoid Schizophrenia 3 years ago. When I experience the voices, they are quite negative on occasion: they will tell me that nobody wants me around and that I’m better off alone.

I have been experiencing the voices frequently these last few weeks, and recently they told me that if I take my meds then they will blow my house up. I live with my parents. Fortunately, I have found that I’m quite upfront with people. But today my mam tipped me over the edge, then I became nastily upfront with her, and I walked off & made her cry 😢. I love my mam to bits and will try and do everything for her. After seeing her crying and being upset, I started crying myself. I started having thoughts and hearing voices telling me and showing me to cut and overdose.

Please don’t

By Sarah

Please don’t keep asking me to explain how I feel.
I don’t know, I can’t explain it.
Just sit beside me and hold my hand.
Wipe my tears for me.
And then smile with me because it will be alright.
I will be alright.
