Not waving, but drowning

By Anonymous

I often wish my life was like one of the books I love to read… now I read thrillers and horror… but with those I can shut the book and walk away. I’m very good at surviving and I appear to function quite well but I’m my 40s now I’m tired of surviving I want to live… life hasn’t been as bad as some people’s, but all pain is relative.. when a child loses their favourite toy it is the end of their world…

I guess I like to read what I do because that way I know there is far worse out there… I’m a musician… a teacher a mum… all roles I love and embrace at the heart of it all is me.. hopefully kind and caring, chaotic, well meaning dedicated and always a little sad…

I tell my kids that it’s ok to be down that it’s good to talk… I personally prefer to deal with me on my own shut away inside my head.. it’s safer there sometimes.
